Your Pathway to a Greener, Smarter Future

The Infrastructure Academy seeks to reinvent Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education by combining rigorous academic courses, service learning, and preparation and placement into jobs. This innovative program design retains the rigor, relevance, and relationships of quality instruction while ensuring that student learning is meaningful to students and provides them with skills that are useful in the real world.

The program consists of several components:

  1. Infrastructure Academy Fellowship: High school science teachers apply to participate in a competitive fellowship that offers professional development on project-based learning, service learning, technology-enabled teaching, and energy and water content. Apply now to be a Fellow!

  2. Academic Courses: Fellows teach courses on Environmental Technology during students' junior and senior years. The first two courses will emphasize water and energy and waste management and transportation.

  3. Leadership & Workforce Readiness: High school students receive training and practice opportunities on integrity, professionalism, and responsibility. Students also develop resumes, cover letters, and prepare for interviews. Staff work with students to prepare them for summer internships, full-time job placements, and college placement.

  4. Paid Student Employment: Students work part-time and during the summers doing sustainability projects, such as water conservation, for the utilties or public agencies.
